Five years ago, I delivered my very first paid cake from Sugar Cloud—hands a little shaky, heart full. What started during Covid as a way to use my time constructively slowly grew into a passion for baking. Despite the demands of a corporate job, I found ways to keep that spark alive, with my family and colleagues becoming my taste panel as I experimented with new recipes and designs.
Destiny had its own plans for me, and stepping away from the corporate world became one of the toughest chapters of my life. In that space, baking turned into therapy—a quiet place of healing, creativity, and rediscovery.
What followed were long nights of learning from failures, celebrating small wins, and chasing that feeling when someone tastes a dessert and smiles without saying a word. Each cake taught me patience. Each order built confidence. Each repeat client felt like a gentle reminder that I was on the right path.
Throughout this journey, I was held up by unwavering support at home—by my husband and my mother—who believed in me even when I doubted myself, lifted me through failed attempts, and helped me stay grounded and focused when things felt overwhelming.
Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from inspiring mentors at Olivier Culinary School in Mauritius and Colors of Cake in India, whose guidance helped shape both my skills and my respect for the craft.
Here’s to the first cake, the many that followed, and all the sweetness still to come ✨🍰🎂
