Rubino Rubino is a family run restaurant, known for our local and Mediterranean dishes. The Diacono family is somewhat synonymous with food.

Open to clients since 1906 Rubino is one of the oldest establishments in Valletta. Originally a confectionery run by a Sicilian family then headed by Vincenzo Rubino The establishment has changed hands over the years and in the late 90's was opened as a restaurant. In 2008 Karl and Michael Diacono took over the restaurant and slowly started to change and tweak things. Nannu Charles Wirth, a banker

by profession, had a passion for good food (and a good time) and was involved in the opening of catering establishments in Valletta and Buskett. He installed the love of good food in his daughters Rita and Therese who in turn passed on the passion for food to their own children. Rita had all of eleven children and and a very large kitchen in which to prepare on average 14,235 meals a year just to feed to family. Being raised surrounded by the aroma of baking and roasting it is no wonder that all of the siblings are good cooks in their own right with Michael today highly respected as a chef ( he also owns and runs Giuseppi's in Melllieha as chef patron (www.giuseppismalta'.com.).The love of food has also moved on to the next generation with Edward and Nicky, now also very present in the kitchen and putting their own stamp on things . It is not uncommon to have three generations of the family in on any one night as Nanna Rita still pops in once in a while to give a few tips and brothers and nephews assist whenever they have the time.
