Currently, this beautiful waterside venue is available for any kind of event – from private parties and dinners to weddings and exclusive get-togethers. Prominently located in a lovingly restored, early 18th century villa at the tip of Balluta Bay, Barracuda, (est 1978) has been and very much still is, one of Malta’s longest established fine dining restaurants. Finely polished glass and silverware twinkle in the soft muted lighting as you weave through the classic décor towards your table: either inside or on one of the terraces literally metres above the water. It’s a picture perfect restaurant for a romantic occasion, to entertain special guests or for holiday makers wanting something more exclusive. Complimentary parking (three hours) is a short distance away at Le Mèridien hotel and a lovely walk along the promenade from St Julian’s/Sliema direction. Barracuda’s menu is finely tuned and selective with each dish containing the freshest of ingredients. Seafood is the main feature on the menu with fresh fish and shellfish mouth-wateringly cooked and presented. Seared fresh scallops, citrus gravalax or char grilled fresh rib eye that melts in your mouth or fresh Irish beef fillet for those with a heartier appetite, are a sample of what's available. Crêpe Suzette prepared at your table is the perfect way to complete your meal. The wine list is definitely worth contemplative meditation: a lovingly selected cellar of local, European and new world wines are available as well as a selection of champagnes.
