By 2050, there will be 9.6 billion people on Earth. In order to accommodate us, the current food production will have to almost double. Currently, agriculture is responsible for tremendous soil damage annually, water depletion and livestock production itself contributes 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions with a prediction of 70% increase in meat demand by 2050. With drastically less use of land, water and GHG emissions, insect production represents a major solution for global food and feed demand and environmental protection. However, the biggest challenge is perception. Thus, at Protera we aim to introduce insects through the promotion of feed and food products.
