What impressed me the most was hearing the stories behind every dish served.

Not just how it was cooked, but who grew it, where it came from, and why it belonged to the season.

I loved this approach because it is very close to how I create Gozo Picnic.

Through the food, I introduce my guests to the island of Gozo — its flavours, farmers, traditions, and seasonal ingredients.

The meals we remember are often the ones that help us understand a connection between people and the place.

How the food at Gozo Picnic tastes so good?

I hand pick everything what goes into the picnic. I don’t pick by the looks but by it’s aroma.

🍓 If strawberries smell sweet, they’ll usually taste sweet.

🍑 The same goes for peaches and nectarines.

🍉 And a watermelon? Give it a knock. A crisp, bouncy sound usually means it’s ripe. A dull one stays at the market.

After preparing thousands of meals over the past 8 years, I’ve learned that great cooking starts with choosing exceptional ingredients.
