Since 2024, we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with The Anou, so it felt only natural that our new space would have a master artisan piece at its heart. Displayed like a protective talisman at the entrance, this work is a statement in itself: Moroccan craftsmanship belongs in contemporary spaces, without folklorisation, nostalgia, nor the false dichotomy between tradition and modernity. The pile knot rug’s deliberately organic motifs create a beautiful tension with the clean, geometric lines of our building’s 1950s modernist architecture, listed as part of the city’s heritage. At the same time, its psychedelic spirit echoes the 1970s - a decade of abundance, freedom and joyful irreverence - that deeply inspired the way we approached this space with our architect zineb latafi. Choosing to work with The Anou was also, for us, a meaningful gesture of support. Their work is rooted in empowering artisans and giving them greater autonomy, in a context where makers are still too often made vulnerable by the middleman culture. Our piece was made in Oued Ifrane, in the Middle Atlas, by the Nahda cooperative, Nahda meaning “renaissance” in Arabic, a beautiful omen for a new beginning ✨
