The Sichuan button, also known as the “buzz button” or
“electric daisy,” is a small flower bud that originates from South America but is also found in Asia. When consumed, it provides a tingling and numbing sensation in the mouth, which is caused by the presence of spilanthol, a natural chemical found in the flower bud. This sensation is sometimes described as being similar to the effect of mild electric shocks or the feeling of having your mouth “buzzing.”
