For those of you who have wondered, or been around here long and noticed the quiet. Here is an update on where I have been, if you were curious.
Long before Cakeberg was born, I was an English teacher. Teaching adults and kids in groups and in kindergartens.
Yes, I have always loved baking, and it has always been and will always be a part of my life. But I missed teaching and working with people regularly. Having a home business has its pluses, but it can be lonely.
A year ago, I began my adventure with Mācītspēks to get my degree to be a teacher while teaching English in Ogre. This year has been amazing! I have loved returning to university and getting another degree. I have loved making new friends with my fellow course mates, and have met so many amazing new colleagues who I am so incredibly thankful for.
This Spring, I had to put my baking on hold in order to finish my research for my defense paper, as well as prepare for that defense. I can say that those 4 months were by far the most stressful months I have ever known.
On July 1st, I graduated with my class and am so honored to get to continue this adventure in teaching. In the year to come, I will continue my induction year and look forward to continuing to learn and grow as a teacher with my amazing course mates and colleagues.
As for baking, I am still feeling my way forward, trying to understand what the new school year holds as a mom, student, and as a teacher. As well as easing back into the flow after my FIRST EVER paid vacation, and visiting my family this summer :)
I am considering how and when to best jump back into your baking requests, and how to juggle family, my teaching, and cakes. If I am slow to answer, you will know why. But, when you are longing for cakes, don't hesitate to ask, even if I can't do it, knowing you want my cakes encourages me to keep planning my return :)
Thanks to each of you who have ordered my cakes from the very beginning and even before Cakeberg existed. I am SO thankful for each of you!
