Thank You, Mirang Family ☕️🖤

After two beautiful years on Šv. Stepono street, it’s time to say goodbye to our cozy Mirang café. These years were filled with unforgettable moments – cups of iced coffee drinks, matcha lattes and bingsu shared with friends, countless conversations about life and dreams, Korean language lessons, cultural events, and meeting so many wonderful souls who walked through our doors 👦🧒

Our mission was always clear – to create a space where Korean culture could be felt, tasted, and understood in its true and authentic form. Together, we brought a small piece of Korea to Vilnius, and we are deeply grateful for each and every one of you who supported and believed in this idea 🖤

Unfortunately, due to the upcoming renovation of the building, we must close our doors. July 11th will be our last day of serving coffee, after which, for the following 12-13 days, we will host a final sale, where you can buy our furniture, equipment, and small pieces of Mirang to take home with you. 🏷️

Mirang was created and owned by Severija Han, whose vision and love for Korea built this place from the ground up. Although Mirang is closing, its spirit will continue in other forms through Severija’s projects, teaching, and cultural work. You can continue following her journey here:

Knygų papildymas 🌟 Dvi naujienos:

1. Norime pasidžiaugti nauja draugyste su 🤝 kurie papildė mūsų lentynas knygomis apie Pietų Korėją ir kelias kitas Azijos šalis. Ypatingai rekomenduojame prie kavos puodelio paskaityti 2024 m. Nobelio literatūros premijos laureatės Han Kang knygą „Ateina berniukas“ bei kitą jos kūrinį „The White Book“ anglų kalba, kurį gavome dovanų.

2. Žurnalų lentyną papildėme dviem naujais mados žurnalais iš Pietų Korėjos ir dviem dizaino leidiniais „4N“.

Introducing to you our new Korean shaved-ice dessert 빙수 [bingsu] 🍧

🍧 Origins and Evolution: Bingsu dates back to the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) when it was known as “patbingsoo” – shaved ice with sweetened red beans. Initially, it was a luxury reserved for royalty, as ice was a rare commodity.

🍨 Core Ingredients: The classic bingsu consists of finely shaved ice topped with sweet red bean paste. Modern variations are filled with everything from chopped fruit to ice cream and condensed milk.

🌈 Modern Varieties: From mango to watermelon, from green tea to tiramisu – bingsu flavors are designed to satisfy every palate.

🌍 International Popularity: The global spread of Korean culture has made bingsu a beloved dessert not just in Korea but all over the world. It can now be found in many major cities in Asia, however in Europe it’s still not well known 🤷🏻‍♀️

👫 Social Aspect: Bingsu is often a shared treat among friends or family, making it a great way to enjoy time together and cool down during the summer.
