The Uga Resorts family observed Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28, along with the rest of the world. We dimmed our lights to highlight the important things in life.

The soulful rhythms of Sri Lanka's rich cultural legacy replaced the hum of electricity between 7.30 and 8.30 p.m. throughout Uga Ulagalla, Uga Bay, Uga Chena Huts, and Uga Jungle Beach. A charming tapestry of traditional performances enthralled our guests, serving as a gentle reminder that the most remarkable moments don't require a switch to activate.

The impact of just one hour:
- 404 kWh saved — a remarkable 52% reduction in electricity compared to normal operations
- 0.287 metric tonnes of CO₂e offset
- An 89.9% increase in carbon savings compared with 2024

At Uga Resorts, we believe that true luxury carries a responsibility — to tread lightly upon the very landscapes that inspire us. Every considered gesture, however small, is a step towards preserving the extraordinary world we are privileged to call home.

We believe that the finest things in life deserve protection.

Access to clean drinking water plays a vital role in protecting kidney health, especially in communities affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Recognizing this need, Uga established its first Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in Athungama, Anuradhapura in 2021, bringing safe drinking water to more than 250 families living in an area impacted by poor water quality and kidney disease. Building on this effort, seven additional RO plants have since been installed, with a combined capacity of 27,400 litres, now providing clean drinking water to 1,060 families and nearly 6,400 individuals.

This World Kidney Day, we reaffirm our commitment to initiatives that make a meaningful difference, because protecting communities begins with the essentials of life.
