A Grand Celebration of Sportsmanship and Unity The Inaugural Cricket Carnival of Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC

The lush grounds of DMCC came alive on the 4th of May as Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC hosted its much anticipated Inaugural Cricket Carnival, marking the beginning of what is set to become a cherished annual tradition the prestigious Chairman’s Trophy.

This magnificent event brought together twelve spirited teams representing all estates under the company’s umbrella, competing not just for glory but for camaraderie, pride, and the pure joy of cricket. The tournament was magnificently organized, reflecting the company’s commitment to fostering unity and well-being among its workforce.

The day began with great enthusiasm, with teams and supporters arriving early to welcome Executive Director Mr. Lalith Munasinghe and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Feroze Majeed, whose presence added immense value and inspiration to the occasion. Their support and encouragement truly set the tone for what unfolded as a vibrant, joyous, and well coordinated celebration.

The matches themselves were a thrilling display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. After a series of nail-biting encounters, Wanarajah Estate emerged victorious, claiming the title of Champions of the first-ever Chairman’s Trophy. Lethenty Estate fought valiantly and secured the Runners-Up position, showcasing exceptional talent and determination.

In a remarkable show of unity and celebration, Wanarajah Estate hosted a grand New Year Festival from the 18th to the 20th of April 2025, marking a milestone in the estate’s historyThis three-day celebration, organized for the very first time with the participation of the entire workforce, brought together over 1,000 individuals, workers, families, and residents under one vibrant and joyous occasion.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Management of Wanarajah Estate, working hand in hand with the entire estate community. This collaborative effort not only broke traditional barriers seen in the plantation sector but also reflected a significant shift towards inclusivity and community driven progress.

A successful Blood Donation Camp was organized at Wanarajah Estate on 16th March 2025, a remarkable event that showcased the power of unity, compassion, and social responsibility. This initiative, spearheaded by the Management of Wanarajah Estate, saw the enthusiastic participation of estate employees, local authorities, and the wider community, making it a truly impactful occasion.

The medical team from Glencairn Hospital played a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and efficient blood donation process, reflecting their unwavering commitment to community health. The selfless contribution of 60 donors was a testament to the spirit of generosity, each volunteer stepping forward to give the gift of life.

This blood donation camp was not just a medical initiative but a powerful collaborative effort, uniting various sectors of society for a noble cause.
