THE TEA PROCESS / තේ හැදෙන විදිය 🌱

Tea processing involves several steps:

Withering: 🍃 Freshly picked tea leaves are dried to reduce moisture content. This makes the leaves pliable and prepares them for further processing.

Rolling: 🌀 The withered leaves are then rolled to break their cell walls, releasing enzymes that initiate oxidation. Rolling also helps shape the leaves into the desired form, whether it's twisted, curled, or rolled into pellets.

Oxidation/Fermentation: 🌱 Rolled leaves are left to oxidize, developing flavor, aroma and color. The degree of oxidation depends on the type of tea being produced. Green tea, for example, is not oxidized much at all, while black tea is fully oxidized.

Drying: ☀️ Leaves are dried to stop oxidation and removes any remaining moisture from the leaves, that helps preserve their flavor.

Grading/Packaging: 📦 Dried leaves are sorted by size and quality, then packaged for sale.

Each step is crucial in creating the desired flavor and aroma of the final tea product.💡
