Ministry Of Crab #35 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants List 2022, we are dedicated to serving our guests the best of Sri Lanka's Mud Crab right here in their home country!

Ministry of Crab is a celebration of Sri Lanka’s Regal Mud Crab. Opened in December 2011, by Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara and Dharshan Munidasa, the restaurant was the first of its kind, focusing on the internationally famous (especially in Singapore) Sri Lankan Crab as the hero ingredient. Ministry of Crab is located at the historic 400-year old Dutch Hospital in the heart of Colombo, as

its name required a ministerial building. The winning combination of our dishes and location created a ‘must-visit’ dining destination in Sri Lanka.

Building on our commitment to the coastal communities that help make Ministry of Crab what it is today, we are proud to launch our second community initiative together with World Vision Lanka, supporting a school in Anamaduwa with a USD 12,000 donation of IT equipment, musical instruments, and sports gear — creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and explore their passions.

“We insist on IT equipment because from what I see, we lack behind. We’re trying to help the next generation be a little more ready for tomorrow,” says Chef Dharshan

The communities we chose are fishing communities along Sri Lanka’s coastline — the very families and communities that help this restaurant work every day.

Following our first project in Kalpitiya, which provided a fully equipped IT lab for 415 students, this is another step towards investing in the future of Sri Lanka’s next generation.
