Current Situation
Widespread Inundation: Heavy rains have resulted in parts of the Batticaloa district becoming submerged in floodwaters. Major roads are underwater, and people are using boats in certain areas.
Infrastructure Damage: The Polonnaruwa–Batticaloa main road has been completely closed to traffic due to inundation.

Affected Population: Thousands of people in the district and across the Eastern, Northern, and North-Central provinces have been affected by the inclement weather.

The Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert, warning of very heavy rainfall and strong winds as the cyclonic storm moves across the island.
