Black Honey turned 3 years old on May 9th this year, and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of this experience and journey that has surprised us at every turn. One of the biggest drivers behind this has been the community that built the loyalty of our customers. We can’t thank you enough for your genuine support.

For now, we would like to give our hardworking team a small and well-deserved break. The café will be closed from today, the 15th, while room operations will remain open for a couple of months, allowing us a proper rest and reset.

We have some big plans ahead and can’t wait to show you what’s coming when we are back. Exciting things are to come. Keep your eyes open, Ahangama.

They thrive off building connections and coffee is our ice breaker, if you’re looking for a reason swing by and have a coffee, build a conversation with a stranger or just chat to us while you dip in the pool. Now that things have wound down this is the perfect time to reconnect. Put that device down and focus on what is important. Good friends, good coffee, good times.

Not your traditional katsu — but then again, we don’t do traditional.
If you’re after something lighter that still packs a punch, this one’s for you.
Meet our crab katsu… not-so katsu.
Try it and tell us — can we still call this katsu?

Specialty coffee in Sri Lanka has come a long way in a short time. Five years ago, truly well-made coffee still felt hard to find, and the culture around it was only just beginning to take shape. Today, there is a real shift happening, with more care, more knowledge, and a much stronger standard across the board.

What is exciting is that it is no longer just about serving coffee. Farmers, roasters, baristas, and cafes are all helping build a coffee culture with real identity. Sri Lanka’s specialty scene is still young, but that is exactly what makes it so exciting. It is no longer about catching up. It is becoming something of its own.

Where do you think Sri Lankan coffee culture will be five years from now?

Heat: 10/10. Pool: 10/10.

Come cool off in the pool — shade on the wall, cold water on your skin, and nothing on the schedule. Problem solved.

Open every day, 8am–4pm-ish.

I want to believe we’ve built a place that’s genuinely worth a detour — tucked between rice paddies, away from the noise, but close enough that you can slip off the main road and feel like you’ve found something.

We’re in testing mode on a few new menu ideas right now, and there’s more coming soon.

Today’s special: Mexican Corn Fritters with smoky salsa roja, lime & coriander crema, a soft poached egg, avocado, and burnt corn salsa.

Made for slow, sunny afternoons — rice paddy views, a little shade, and a plate that hits the spot.
