Tonight I ordered Pad Thai with prawns from my favorite restaurant. Before I left the states Thai food was becoming very popular and the best I had back home was in Medford Massachusetts.

That was quite a while ago and I can't remember the price back then but I am curious as to how much an order of Pad Thai with shrimp would be in the United States, or Australia, or anywhere else in the world.

This one was absolutely perfect. They use homemade sauce starting with fresh tamarin paste, fish sauce and palm sugar and THATS IT.
The prawns were cooked perfectly.

Recently Venus booked a wonderful trip to Xishuangbanna for 12 family members. This southern part of Yunnan, and more specifically Jinghong city have become my new favorites.

It's only four hours by train, and Venus's friend has a lovely hotel facing the night Market, which in itself is quite an experience. The favorite thing to do is get dressed up in the traditional Dai ethnic costume and have a photo taken around the city.

The cuisine is astounding, focusing on citrus flavors with seafood and local vegetables. Transportation is simple and you can rent an electric bike for the equivalent of 1 1/2 US dollars per day.

The longan in Luang Prabang are extraordinary right now so juicy and sweet and the meat comes right off the pit. That's a quality longan!

People here tend to spray paint things where they lie. Cardboard and old paper prevail, but most say, "why bother?"

To me this looks like little silver alien footy-prints.
And the best part it is on display right outside the front gate of Mali House!

I painted room number one over the last two days. This is "Grandma's Room" as we call it, because Mali's grandmother stays here whenever she comes to town.
