How to get to Luang Namtha? From Thailand: From Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai you can take a direct bus (Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri) to Luang Namtha, crossing the Friendship Bridge over the Mekong River. Already in Laos: direct buses leave for Luang Namtha from the major cities, such as Huay Xai, Luang Prabang or Oudomxai. From Luang Namtha bus station you can take a taxi (tuktuk) into town. This is a twenty minute drive and should cost 10.000-20.000 KIP (depending on the number of people on the tuktuk)
