MACS CRAFTS(Manual Arts & Chellcy Stitch) designer, Chellcy. Exploring mixed-media art through the synthesis of craft techniques and fine art.

매뉴얼 아트(manual art) 라는 단어는 핸디크라프트(Handicraft)와 유사한 뜻입니다.
비교적 단순한 도구를 사용하여 만드는 손기술이나 기능 및 그것에 의해 만들어지는 물건을 총칭합니다.
흔히말하는 수예, 수공예에 해당된다 할 수 있습니다.
만드는 즐거움과 장식성, 감상성을 갖추고있는 점에서는 예술과 같은 차원이지만,
대체로 '실용성'을 지녔으며 또한 '재질감'을 살리는 것이 특색이라 할수 있습니다.

아마추어부터 전문적 직업인까지 누구나 만들 수 있으며, 대상은 목공예, 금공예, 도공예, 직물공예, 염색공예,
인형, 자수공예, 레이스, 유리공예, 손뜨개, 펠트공예, 리본공예 등등 광범위한 활 전반의 수공예를
적절한 디자인으로 혼합하여 그 재질의 특색을 연구하고 수차례 시험하고 제대로 파악하여

아마추어 디자이너들에게 조금 더 확실한 디자인과 사용 매뉴얼을 제시함으로써 보다 나은 작품활동과
좀 더 발전된 완성을 이끌어내는것이 목적입니다.
또한, 모든 자재의 재질을 연구하고 디자이너 아티스트들로 하여금 공감을 이끌어냄으로서 신소재들을
유행시키고 산업발전에 기여하는것 또한 목적입니다.

어떻게 보면 아주 어렵고 거창하게 보일수도 있는 단어이지만 이 몇 사람들의 작은 움직임과 소망들이 만들어낸 매뉴얼인만큼
언젠가부터 숨죽어버린 수공예 산업 분야에 대한 대중들의 관심을 조금이라도 끄집어 낼 수 있는 계기가 되길 간절히 바랍니다.
