*Travel
With many holidays falling in September and October 2026, some of you may already be planning a trip. Traveling far away can be wonderful, but this time, why not take the opportunity to explore some of the many cities here in Korea?
When I was a university student in my twenties, I traveled around Korea several times using the “Rail-ro” train pass. Taking the train from one city to another and discovering different landscapes, atmospheres, foods, and cultures remains one of my fondest memories.
Today, I run a café tucked away in a small alley, where I meet people visiting from all across the country.
Talking with them often makes me think that, if I had had a little more time, I would have traveled to even more cities throughout Korea.
If I had experienced more of each region’s scenery and food, and learned more about the everyday lives and cultures of the people who call those places home, perhaps I would now have even more stories and shared experiences to connect with those who visit our space.
For me, travel was never simply about visiting somewhere new. It was a chance to take in the landscape, understand the people who live there, and discover the different textures of life that shape each place.
Even in a country we think we know so well, there are still countless landscapes and cultures we have yet to encounter, and cities with their own distinct character waiting to be discovered.
Because what we see, hear, taste, and feel along the way may one day return to us as a small connection—a shared experience that brings our stories together.
I hope your next journey becomes more than simply visiting a place. I hope it gives you the chance to discover the different landscapes of Korea and the unique textures of the lives and people within them.
And on your way home, carry with you the story you remember most from that city. :)
