MUKIMO NA BEEF — KENYAN COMFORT FOOD!
Some foods don't just fill your stomach…
they carry a story.
Mukimo is strongly associated with communities around Mount Kenya, particularly the Kikuyu, Embu and Meru. Traditional versions combine potatoes, maize and leafy vegetables, all cooked and mashed together. The Kenyan government's recipe book lists it as a common dish among these communities and notes that it is often served with meat stew.
Over time, Mukimo has travelled far beyond Central Kenya and become a much-loved Kenyan restaurant favourite — especially alongside beef stew, nyama choma and other meats.
