We try and do things in the old fashion way, where we shop and cook everyday. We do not allow perfume or cologne, or bad mannered guest or racism in our home, we are not here to babysit your children, we are an international family, we love cooking for and talking to our guest from all over the world, We have been open for 12 years and try very hard to be original, not like other places around us who try and copy, or franchises. If you decide to give our place a try, please note, you will be served by my children, if it is professionalism and five star service you are looking for, this may not be the place for you. Remember you are coming into a place we call “Home” and will be treated as Family. We started out with just a tool shed, my wife and 7 year old daughter built everything by hand. Our menu consist of some Japanese dishes I learned while living in mainland, also my wife is Okinawa and her dishes, of course are from Okinawa, My food is from my home of Louisiana, Gumbo, Jambalaya, and my smoked chicken is from where my Pawpaw lived in Ponchatoula, but of course my own flavor. We did not start with a menu as other restaurants do, we started out with hungry Marines from a nearby base called Camp Hansen, We do not put anything on our menu until we have decided that the flavor can always be kept or better, this takes up to a year and half to two years. Our menu like our place grows. We even have one dish that took me 9 years before getting it right. We are not great chefs by any means, we are self taught, and coming here is just like going to your Family`s house out in the country, call them and let them know you are coming for a visit and they will prepare for you. Meet the Business Owner
Warren S. Left home at the age of 15 after being beat everyday and could not take it anymore, was homeless off and on for 10 years. My first 25 years made me who I am, some people call me weird or strange or worse, but the truth is no one can go thru what I lived thru and be expected to come out normal. I do not think I had a bad or hard life, I had a life and would not change anything about it, I lived thru, but more than that “I” survived it! Moved to Japan in 1991, now living in Okinawa. Started this place with my Wife and Daughter and some hungry Marines. Never felt appreciated in all my life until I started BBQing for Marines in 2002 on Shawab. Marines are a different breed, the Comradery they share can not be seen or felt anywhere, and I have been around a lot of people, many different times I have had the privilege to cook for or help Marines in many different areas in Okinawa, now we cook for everyone from all over the world. But, the Marines had adopted me and will always be the main reason I do what I do. When people come here, I look at them as Family that I am meeting for the first time and talk to them in that manner, I have no borders, some people get offended, but the fact is, they don`t understand. This is “Home” as I lived on the streets, this is what I dreamt “Home” would be, Warm, Safe, Friendly, Family, Laughter, and Breaking Bread together. This is why we say “Welcome Home” to people when they arrive. This is not just our “Home” but “Home!!!!!!I believe what sets us apart from other places,
is,
The fact that we will not let the complaints from people about the way we do things, scare us, intimidate us or move us. Our place was built upon the foundation of,
Appreciation and Respect. The Integrity of our dishes, is the most important thing to us. And the type of guest we attract with our food see that and very much appreciate and respect it. Every main dish we have took a year and half to two years before it became apart of our menu, it took us 10 years to have a full menu of 10 dishes. most dishes that we tried never made it. Now, after almost 5 years of searching, we are doing a burger. A Burger that will not disappoint, not be rushed, and will add to our menu, not take away. We have been working on it now for 3 months and have only sold 100 or so. If you are looking for a place that differs from others and is its own mind set and caterers to the Integrity of the Food not the Guest. Then "Home" just might be the place for you. We get a lot of high praise about the pictures of our food. Some Pictures are ours and some our Guest have taken. Yes the food looks the same when it is set in front of you as it does in the pictures. Come "Home" while on Vacation,
Welcome,
Warren & Family
