Menbakaichidai has been a staple in the community for 30 years — burning through the competition with its famous “Fire Ramen.” I innocently assumed that the ramen earned its name for being spicy, as are most “fire” dishes in the culinary world. It wasn’t until I was inches away from a four-foot flame, that I finally realized this restaurant had taken things to the next level.

🍜 Happy Ramen Day!

Did you know July 11 (7/11) was chosen as Ramen Day in Japan because the numbers resemble the utensils used to enjoy ramen? 7 represents a ramen spoon, while 11 looks like a pair of chopsticks🥢🥄

The date also honors Momofuku Ando, the inventor of instant noodles. July 11 falls 100 days after his birthday.

At Menbaka, we like to add one more ingredient to the celebration…
