Wakayama Guest House 士道 Shido

Guest House Shido is the gateway to Koyasan, Kumano kodo and Nara for travelers. The reason we built a guesthouse at this location is that there were not very many hotel facilities for tourists here. One day, a tourist from overseas came up to me and asked me if there were any guesthouses in this area. Seeing that tourist in trouble was a motivation for us to open one. It was renovated from an old folk house that was built 100 years ago and is a simple facility where one can feel the traditions and culture of ancient Japan. We have two rooms, each with two beds. It has a modern Japanese-style interior design with items like Japanese swords and Japanese umbrellas. At the adjacent Juwari-soba restaurant “Tenko”, you can enjoy Juwari-soba that’s freshly made every morning, freshly-fried tempura, and the local sake of Wakayama. There are lots of menu items with no meat, so it is recommended for vegetarian guests as well. If you'd like to have them, My father and mother cook them for you. Koyaguchi is the entrance to Koyasan and Kumano Kodo. Please stop by at Koyaguchi on your way to Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, and Yoshino when you are headed in that direction. We'd like you to experience the nature and culture of this land and interact with the people of this town. We hope you have a great trip. We’re looking forward to your visit with us at Wakayama Guesthouse Shido.
