Once the Jamaica home of renowned author Ian Fleming, GoldenEye was developed by Island Records founder, Chris Blackwell, and opened as a resort in 2011. Since then, the lush, 52-acre property has appeared in countless lifestyle magazines. Distinctive property features include private beaches, secret coves, a seawater lagoon and The Fleming Villa (where all 14 James Bond books were written). There

are two restaurants (The Gazebo and Bizot Bar), a unique FieldSpa and accommodations that include one- and two-bedroom Beach and Lagoon Villas, Lagoon Cottages and an ocean front villa. In February 2016, Blackwell expanded his vision for GoldenEye with the addition of 26 Beach Huts, a seaside bar and rooftop terrace, pool area, snorkeling cove and bay-side beach, grill shack and drink stand. It’s 90-minutes by car from Montego Bay Airport and an eight-minute drive from Ian Fleming International (private aviation only).

Today, on World Reef Day, we pause to honor the living reef systems that make GoldenEye’s bay so extraordinary.

Beneath the surface, coral reefs support marine life, protect our coastline, and create the conditions for the quiet moments our guests remember most - snorkeling over clear blue water, watching fish move through the reef, seeing sea turtles glide through the lagoon, or witnessing the wonder of a Hawksbill sea turtle hatching.

Through the work of the GoldenEye Foundation and our Oracabessa Fish Sanctuary team, as well the Fishers Association - ongoing efforts continue to help protect and restore the health of Oracabessa Bay, including coral replanting and marine conservation initiatives that support the delicate balance of life beneath the water.

Because every swim, every snorkel, every turtle sighting, and every moment in the bay begins with a healthy reef.

This World Reef Day, we celebrate the beauty below the surface; and the work being done to protect it.

Happy Birthday, Ian Fleming.

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of the man whose imagination gave rise to one of literature and cinema’s most enduring characters - James Bond.

Ian Fleming first discovered Jamaica in 1942 and was immediately drawn to the island’s natural beauty, light, and atmosphere. A few years later, in 1946, he purchased the land in Oracabessa where he built the seaside retreat he named GoldenEye.

It was here, surrounded by sea, solitude, and inspiration - that Fleming wrote all 14 James Bond novels, creating stories that would travel across generations and around the world.

This year feels especially poignant as GoldenEye marks 80 years since Fleming first purchased the property that would become such an important part of his life and creative legacy.

To honor the milestone, we invite guests to experience Ian Fleming’s GoldenEye at 80 - a special stay inspired by the rituals, spirit, and timeless sense of place that continue to define GoldenEye today.

The trees. The water. The stillness in between.

At the Spa at GoldenEye, everything returns to its natural rhythm - set at the edge of the lagoon, where treatments unfold gently and the scent of leaves, roots and wood lingers softly.

A place to slow down, breathe deeper, and simply be.
