WE ARE A FAMILY FRIENDLY WELCOMING ESTABLISHMENT
It is believed that the Hotel derived its name from a former landlord who was a Mr Prince. It stands on the site and may be the successor of a former hostelry dating back to 1835 and which bore the name “The Crown and Punch Bowl”, which was kept by a bonny widow named Coutanche. Details of the house are given in a compilation known as “Le Crapaud” an English monthly journal intended for English readers. At the premises of The Crown and Punch Bowl there met the Hodge-Podge Club who’s rules were very similar to those of the present Rotarian movement. Amongst the rules were; No two representatives of the same profession or calling were admitted as members. Each member was, in turn, obliged to furnish a tale, anecdotal, historical, ludicrous or sentimental for the amusement and edification of the members of the Club. In this Club were the germs of the modern Rotary Movement. Jersey thus possessed a sort of Rotary Club long before the idea was re-evolved in Chicago. Latterly the previous landlord & lady John & Pam Cousins decided to call the Princes, Wacks bar, which reflected his home-city of Liverpool following his retirement, refurbishment work was undertaken and the name reverted to The Prince's with a new proprietor Sarah Burns since June 2012.
