In 18th-century courts, the dining table was also a place of celebration. For festivals and special occasions, court chefs would create sumptuous desserts, designed to pay homage to the events and figures involved and to showcase the court’s prestige.
It is from this ancient tradition that the Gran Pane Sabaudo was born, created to celebrate the 269th anniversary of the Ristorante Del Cambio.
A large leavened cake, whose shape resembles a crown, paying homage to the history and region of Piedmont: hazelnuts, chocolate and amaretti combine with fruit flavoured with Marsala and Barolo Chinato.
A dessert created for a special occasion, which can be enjoyed at dessert time throughout this week.
