Lonely Planet Review:
Affordability and aesthetics don’t usually go hand in hand in Taormina, but this restaurant down an alley off Corso Umberto I is a welcome exception. Enjoy pizza, sandwiches or full meals as you contemplate the view from their pleasant outdoor terrace. ( http://bit.ly/q1adj2)
Frommer's Review:
The focal point of this restaurant/pub is a stone-sided cistern, built during the
Middle Ages by the Arabs, that's set deep within a basement used for wine storage. A staff member will show it to you upon request, but you're more likely to be drinking and eating on the upper floors. Located in a narrow alley a few steps downhill from Corso Umberto, the club is most fun after 8pm. An attached restaurant, set on a terrace draped in bougainvillea, serves 25 kinds of pizza (including a version with grilled radicchio, smoked cheese, and bacon). Open Tuesday to Sunday noon to 3pm and 6pm to midnight. http://bit.ly/p8hzdu
TripAdvisor from thornmist:
Our B&B recommended La Cisterna del Moro for pizza and as the restaurant was only steps away, we decided to make this our first meal in Sicily. There is a sign visible from the main street, but the restaurant itself is tucked down an alleyway and then there are more stairs down into a cellar-like dining room. The curtains were closed due to the rain, but I think in good weather there is an outdoor dining area available. The dining room itself was light and inviting, despite being downstairs. We started with crostini formaggi (melted cheese on toast) which was excellent, and then proceeded to pizza. I ordered a sausage & potato piece, sprinkled with rosemary which I enjoyed very much and my travel partner selected a specialty pizza that came with artichoke, ham, mushrooms, and egg. I believe it might have a 4 seasons pizza. It wasn't to my taste, but he enjoyed it. We shared half a liter of the white house wine and found it refreshing, with no unpleasant aftertaste. The service was attentive without being obtrusive and the waiter helped us with our Italian pronunciations. The bill was under 40 euro and they accept credit cards.
