Hotel Memphis Rome

Hotel Memphis Rome The most famous monuments, museums and theatres, the best restaurants and all the main attractions can also be reached on foot. He never set foot in Rome.

The Rome Hotel Memphis is in one of the most exclusive and renowned parts of the city, a unique and enviable location within walking distance from Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fountain, Via Veneto and the famous Via dei Condotti, considered as one of the most important international shopping streets. It is therefore a convenient and prestigious location, right in the historic, artistic and commercial heart of the Eternal City. Hotel Memphis, charming, modern and completely renovated, occupies a building that dates back to the 14th century. It was built as a place of forced custody for rebellious nobles by Pope Clemente V, a native of Guascogna and resident of Avignon, who history remembers for suppressing the Knights Templar (1307) and transferring the Holy See to Avignon. Its street, Via degli Avignonesi,is a named after the notorious papal guards who guarded it in that period and who came from the city of Avignon, which at that time was not part of France but an imperial feud governed by the King of Sicily. Hotel Memphis has a wealth of episodes connected with the history of the local district, the famous “Rione Trevi”, where many illustrious figures lived and worked in ancient times, including the Renaissance genius and artist Michelangelo, who died at a very old age, alone and poor, in a house in nearby Macel de Servi. Due to its size, Hotel Memphis provides a peaceful environment, where comfort, discretion and a full range of services contribute to providing the best possible stay in Rome, in an atmosphere of cordial hospitality, where a long tradition, the ancient and the modern blend together in an evocative setting. All areas, including the rooms, are fully covered by a Wi-Fi Internet access network and Sky cable TV channels are available in each room.
