Evening all, we do lots of work throughout the year for various charities, fundraisers & for local families but we don’t highlight them as we do not do it for praise or recognition we just do it to help as much as we can, but I want to highlight this charity below for two reasons.
1) The “Nurses Fund” which is run by four lovely nurses Annie,Liz,Faye,Emma & others from the Medway Hospital who all do this charity work voluntary in their own time away from hospital duties. The aim of the charity/fund is to help children suffering with cancer by helping to relieve some of the day to day pressures of living with such a diagnosis. The relief will involve financial support, help with equipment not available on the NHS, supporting items within the home & additional support when needed for families facing end of life situations & bereavement 😢
2) Last September the Nurses fund asked for my help in attending Medway Hospital to surprise a patient who was ringing the bell 🔔 to celebrate the end of his cancer treatment by letting him play cream man for the afternoon to treat his family the nurses & all the children on the ward. From this the “Nurses fund” dubbed “Bossie’s” as the “Ice Cream Angels”
This is when I had the pleasure of first meeting Kian, but last week we attended again the funds annual “Coast Summer Picnic” fun day held at the Rainham cricket club which was supported by other local businesses to help raise funds, when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised as Kian was there so it was great to see him again but also it was his 19th birthday 🎂
So obviously I asked Kian to jump into the Ice cream van & help me, he couldn’t wait to get his apron on.
This young man is inspirational as he couldn’t wait to help me put smiles on all the faces of the children going through similar treatment that he’d been through but he was also chuffed being wished a happy birthday from all of those children & especially when we put the “happy birthday chime on at the end with everyone singing happy birthday to him, so I want to thank Kian for making me smile & to all the nurses & volunteers at “The nurses fund”
Please see below the videos/photos from when we first met Kian last September & a photo from last week at the picnic.
Also if you can help in anyway no matter how small pls go to “The nurses fund” just giving page on “Justgiving.com” xx please follow them on instagram
