This project isn’t built overnight.

In these weeks I’m meeting roasters, professionals and people who live coffee every day, trying to understand how to build a truly sustainable and transparent supply chain.

The first samples from the new Ethiopian harvest will arrive soon.
They will be the first real step to evaluate quality, potential and direction.

Not a fast journey, but the right one.

Questo progetto non nasce in un giorno.

In queste settimane sto incontrando torrefazioni, professionisti e persone che vivono il caffè ogni giorno, cercando di capire come costruire una filiera davvero sostenibile e trasparente.

A breve arriveranno i primi campioni della nuova raccolta etiope.
Saranno il primo passo concreto per valutare qualità, potenziale e direzione.

Non è un percorso veloce.
Ma è quello giusto.

Last December, we had the pleasure of welcoming Yosef Mascalchi for a day of training with Robert here in Florence.

Yosef is a young entrepreneur and the founder of Bunna Origin, a project created to build a more direct and fair bridge between Ethiopia and Italy.

Throughout the day, we worked on coffee selection, roasting, and sensory evaluation, including defect analysis, starting from Ethiopian origins and their deep human and cultural value. 🌱

Bunna Origin’s goal is clear: to create greater value for local producers and reinvest it in concrete projects such as wells, schools, and community infrastructure.

It is through encounters like this that coffee can truly become a tool for change.

A dicembre abbiamo avuto il piacere di accogliere Yosef Mascalchi per una giornata di formazione insieme a Robert qui a Firenze.

Yosef è un giovane imprenditore e il fondatore di Bunna Origin, un progetto nato per creare un ponte diretto e più equo tra l’Etiopia e l’Italia.

Durante la giornata abbiamo lavorato su selezione, tostatura e valutazione sensoriale dei caffè e dei difetti, partendo dalle origini etiopi e dal loro enorme valore umano e culturale. 🌱

L’obiettivo di Bunna Origin è chiaro: generare maggiore valore per i produttori locali e reinvestirlo in progetti concreti come pozzi, scuole e infrastrutture per le comunità.

È da incontri come questo che il caffè può diventare davvero uno strumento di cambiamento.

Questo progetto oggi è fatto di passi piccoli, ma reali.

Contatti diretti in Etiopia.
Raccolti seguiti da vicino.
Dialoghi aperti con chi coltiva, lavora e vive il caffè ogni giorno.

In questa fase non parliamo ancora di volumi o numeri.
Parliamo di fiducia, trasparenza e tempo.

Sto costruendo le basi di una filiera che parta dalla terra,
passi dalle persone,
e arrivi al caffè verde con una storia chiara e verificabile.

Ogni scelta fatta ora serve a una cosa sola:
fare in modo che, domani, il valore generato non si perda lungo la strada.

Questo è il lavoro invisibile.
Quello che non fa rumore,
ma che rende possibile tutto il resto.

Right now, this project is made of small but real steps.

Open conversations with the people who grow, process and live coffee every day.

At this stage, it’s not about volumes or numbers.
It’s about trust, transparency and time.

I’m building the foundations of a supply chain that starts from the land,
moves through people,
and reaches green coffee with a clear and traceable story.

Every choice made today serves one purpose:
making sure that tomorrow the value created doesn’t get lost along the way.

This is the invisible work.
Quiet, slow, essential.

Questo progetto è nato circa quattro mesi fa.
Non come un’azienda pronta, ma come un percorso da costruire.

L’obiettivo è chiaro: creare una filiera del caffè etiope più trasparente,
più giusta, capace di generare valore che torni alle comunità di origine.

I mesi passati sono stati di ascolto e preparazione.
Il 2026 sarà costruzione, passo dopo passo.

This project started about four months ago.
Not as a finished company, but as a path to be built.

The goal is clear: creating a more transparent and fair Ethiopian coffee supply chain,
where value returns to the communities of origin.

The past few months have been spent listening and preparing.
2026 will be about building, step by step.

non separare mai il lavoro dalle persone che lo rendono possibile.

Il caffè è il mezzo.
La responsabilità verso le comunità è il fine.

Costruire valore significa pensare oltre il presente.

This project also comes from a personal choice:
never separating business from the people behind it.

Coffee is the means.
Responsibility toward communities is the purpose.

Building value means thinking beyond the present.

Potevo fare altro,
ma ho scelto una strada più lunga,
perché sentivo che era quella giusta.

e di rispetto.

Questo progetto non nasce per vendere semplicemente caffè.
Nasce con l’idea di creare un collegamento reale tra origine e futuro.

Il caffè è lo strumento, non il fine.
L’obiettivo è generare valore e, nel tempo, restituirne una parte alle comunità etiopi attraverso progetti concreti: istruzione, accesso all’acqua, sanità e sviluppo locale.

Bunna Origin vuole crescere con responsabilità, senza proclami, ma con una visione chiara e misurabile.

Il caffè fa il suo viaggio nel mondo.
Il valore, per noi, deve anche tornare dove tutto è iniziato.
