A special visit to Montevertine, one of Tuscany’s most iconic wineries and one of the early pioneers in the use of barrique in the 1970s.

A winery that helped shape modern Tuscan winemaking while remaining deeply connected to tradition and Sangiovese. And, of course, home to the legendary Le Pergole Torte, one of Italy’s most celebrated wines.

This week, Michela had the chance to visit Galliussi Winery in Cividale del Friuli, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli.

Lucia, the winery manager, welcomed her for a beautiful tour and tasting while sharing her own connection to the region. Originally from Friuli, Lucia spent 10 years in Tuscany, living in Montepulciano, before eventually deciding to return home.

Galliussi itself is a relatively young winery, founded by the two Galliussi brothers just 10 years ago, but its wines already have a wonderful sense of character, structure and minerality.

Michela’s favorite of the tasting was the Sauvignon Blanc Portis. Fresh and vibrant, yet surprisingly deep and complex, it was one of the standout wines she tasted during her time in the region.

And the experience goes far beyond the wine. The entire property is thoughtfully curated down to the smallest detail, with beautiful spaces and exquisite rooms that make Galliussi feel incredibly special! Grazie!

We are pleased to announce the 2026 schedule of our world-famous Wine, Dine & Shine tasting dinners hosted by Molesini Wine Shop and DelBrenna Jewelry!

This year we will take a journey alongside some of the most extraordinary Italian wineries and pair them with incredible menus from Cortona's best restaurants.

Our Wine, Dine, Shine events will begin on Thursday, April 30th. From there, dinners will take place on Thursdays and will conclude at the end of October, making for 24 stunning events. Each evening, we will feature an exclusive dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Cortona. Each seasonal menu is paired specifically with the wines we will taste for a one of-a-kind-experience.
