For the short story, the company was founded in 2003, giving some of the old historical buildings a new role in the community: that is one of the reasons our hotel is so unique and why our buildings are spread around town. ant was built in 1919 and before becoming a hotel has hosted one of the first supermarkets in Iceland– you can still see the original interior and time travel when entering this building full of character. Snæfell was built in 1908, it was one of Iceland’s most beloved composer’s house, and later on where the first jukebox had its home when the basement served as a post office and community center. It used to house the bank of Seyðisfjörður for almost a century, and before that was one of the first hotels in Iceland. All our buildings have been renovated in view to optimize the guests' comfort and making sure to keep the original atmosphere of these unique buildings.
