Puffin season at Dyrhólaey 🐧🇮🇸

Every summer, Atlantic puffins return to the cliffs of Dyrhólaey to nest and raise their chicks. These colourful seabirds arrive in South Iceland from late April and usually stay until mid-August, with the best chances of seeing them from mid-May to early August.
Dyrhólaey is one of the most reliable places to spot puffins in South Iceland. From the cliffs, you can watch them flying between the ocean and their nesting sites, while enjoying views of the black sand coastline, Reynisdrangar sea stacks and the Dyrhólaey arch.

It’s raw, it’s powerful, and there’s an eerie, otherworldly stillness here that feels straight out of a Stranger Things finale. Watching the water plummet into the deep canyon makes you feel like you’re staring right into the Upside Down—but with a much better view.
