Ég fékk verðlaunahljóðmanninn, Gunnar Árnason og leikarann frábæra og nýkjörinn borgarfulltrúa Rúnar Frey Gíslason til þess að gera hljóðmynd af þremur sögum úr bók minni Trunt, Trunt - sögur af fólki, álfum og tröllum fyrir nokkrum misserum og það tókst ljómandi vel. Hef síðan verið að bæta í sarpinn með Gunnari, þýða og lesa inn sögurnar á ensku, þýsku, frönsku, ítölsku, hollensku, spænsku og pólsku. Þetta er nú aðgengilegt á Youtube. I got the award-winning sound engineer, Gunnar Árnason and the wonderful actor and newly elected city councilor Rúnar Freyr Gíslason to make an audio version of three stories from Fossatún book Trunt, Trunt - stories of people, elves and trolls a few months ago and it turned out brilliantly. I have since been adding to the mix with Gunnar, translating and doing the stories in English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Polish. This is now available on Youtube. Yup, that's it then. First day of arctic char trout fishing from our lake, Blundsvatn, yielded 20 fish and they are quite nice as you can see here because the tray is 53 cm long. We will be very focused on taking advantage of these unique benefits and will offer our guests fresh char for dinner and then smoked at the breakfast buffet. Definitely worth a visit!

We get most of the comments through the booking pages, but occasionally tickets and maps are left in the pods. What is mentioned in this thank you note is a reference to the social aspect that the pods offer, such as shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. The strength of the glamping (short for glamorous camping) travel method.

Við fáum mest af kommentum í gegnun bókunarsíðurnar en öðru hvoru eru miðar og kort skilið eftir í poddunum. Það sem kemur fram í þakkarkveðjunni er tilvísun í hinn félagslega þátt sem poddarnir bjóða upp á, fyrirtaks sameiginleg hreinlætis- og eldhús aðstaða. Styrkur glamping (stytting úr: glamorous camping) ferðamátans.

Leimmér að segja ykkur smá sögu. Þegar við opnuðum reksturs Fossatúns fyrir 20 árum þá vakti leikkastalinn okkar gríðarlega athygli. Stærri og flottari leikkastali hafði einfaldlega aldrei sést hérlendis. Við fórum eftir öllum reglum hvað frágang varðar, gúmíflísar undir kastalanum ofl. Nú, tíminn leið og kastalinn hélt velli, þurfti sína aðhlynningu var afar traustur og góður.
Við höfum aldrei fengið á okkur skammir eða kröfu um að hann væri hættulegur börnum eða hefði skaðað þau. Fyir einhverjum misserum var eftirlit kastalans komið undir Heilbrigðiseftirlit Vesturlands og það var farið að hnýta í kastalann. Á síðasta ári kom eftirlitsmanneskja og ég fylgdi henni að kastalanum, hún gekk að einum stiganum upp í kastalann og skók hann og sagði að hann væri of laus. Í þann mund koma milli 10 - 15 krakkar á svæðið og príla öll upp eftir hliðum kastalans. Ekkert þeirra notaði aðgangsstigana.
Þau héngu utan á hliðunum og fóru upp á þökin. Ég leit á eftirlitsmanneskjuna og sagði: “Hérna sérðu hin raunverulegu not á kastalanum. Það virðist ekki stafa mikil hætta af stigunum? Krakkar uppi á þökum, hvað á að gera í því? Þú ættir að íhuga að fjarlægja þökin af kastalanum, var svarið”. “Í alvöru sagði ég, þökin eru hluti af glæsilegri hönnum þessa leikkastala. Á þá ekki að fjarlægja hliðarnar sem þau príluðu uppeftir líka, þannig að eftir standi stiginn, vel fastur? Ég hugsaði um leið en sagði það ekki: “Stairway to heaven - þó hann væri að vísu af styttri gerðinni."
Við eftirlitsmanneskjan héldum svo hálf vandræðaleg til baka. Á leiðinni tjáði hún mér að í raun þyrfti ég að hafa starfsmann sem hefði yfirumsjón yfir kastalanum og væri staðsettur þar. Vísaði til að þannig væri það í skólum þar sem leikkastalar eru.
Ég ákvað að rífa leikkastalann. Það er ekki á færi einkaframtaks að starfa eftir reglum sem miðast við óarðbæran ríkisrekstur. Þessi reynslusaga á sér víðtækari skírskotun og er birtingarmynd þjóðfélagsþróunar, sem fólk getur velt fyrir sér. Mín afstaða er alveg skýr. Skýrar almennar reglur, treystum einstaklingum til að fara eftir þeim og lágmörkum eftirlitskerfið. Endanlegt markmið eftirlitskerfis er nenfilega að viðhalda sjálfu sér.
Við erum nú að endurhanna svæðið og gera sjálfbært. Spurning hvernig eftirlitið bregst við því?

Something is going on at Fossatún. We are taking several steps to make our location even better and nicer and more work-friendly. We recently completed (after a little fine-tuning) a new café/bar reception area. It turned out so brilliantly, before and after photos. The first step in a several-step operation that will hopefully be completed by the end of next month. More on that shortly.

Það stendur mikið til. Við erum að taka nokkur skref í að gera Fossatún enn betra og flottara og vinnuvænna. Kláruðum áðan (smá fínstilling eftir) nýtt kaffihúsa/bar afgreiðslusvæði. Það heppnaðist svona ljómadi vel, myndir fyrir og eftir. Fyrsta skref í nokkurra skrefa aðgerð sem klárast vonandi um næstu mánaðarmót. Meira um það skömmu síðar.

My record collection is one of Fossatún´s specialities. Every day we guests reaction when they have checked it and then stronger in evening when they have picked a record ot play for themselves and the other dinner guests.

Here is communication from a guest and my reply, underlining this.

Hi! I recently stayed in your establishment, and I was really satisfied. An exceptional aspect that amused me was the vinyl collection. I am writing this email in hopes of it reaching the owner:

You have a really really great taste in music. Literally, everything I pulled out was gold. I could think of an album, and I´d be like, this guy 100% has this album, and I was right 99% of the time. The only thing you were missing was Weather Report - or I just couldn't find it. Anyway, I almost feel as if your collection is mine from the future. I am an avid collector myself, but I am nowhere near the magnitude of this collection of yours that I admire so much.
Finally, I would like to ask if you perhaps have a spotify/youtube music playlist with some if not all of the music you have there physically.

Thank you and the staff for a wonderful experience, I wish I could've stayed longer. I hope I will return someday.

Hi. Thank you very much for your comments. Music has and is the most important element of my life and I am pleased to hear it is also for you.

My collection is in alphabetical order by artist name for pop,rock,folk etc. but in the shelf underneath amplifier and record player is jazz, funk, icelalndic and compilations in alphabetical order and there you would have found most of Weather Report plus Miles Davies, Al Dimeola, Ramsey Lewis, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and more.
