Here is the information about our special Istanbul Rice.
Istanbul rice is a beloved dish that originated in Istabul and has become a staple in various cuisines around the world. It is celebrated for its versatility, simplicity, and rich flavors. The process of making Istanbul rice involves transforming leftover rice into a delicious and satisfying meal by stir-frying it with a combination of ingredients such as vegetables, meat, eggs, and seasonings.
To begin, the essential ingredient is day-old cooked rice. Freshly cooked rice tends to be too moist and can turn mushy when stir-fried. Day-old rice, on the other hand, is firmer and drier, making it perfect for achieving the desired texture. The rice is typically broken up by hand or with a fork to prevent clumping during cooking.
Next, the preparation of additional ingredients is crucial. Commonly used vegetables include peas, carrots, onions, and bell peppers, which are diced into small, uniform pieces. Proteins like chicken, shrimp, or tofu can be added, depending on preference. Eggs are often scrambled separately and then mixed into the rice towards the end of cooking.
The cooked rice is then added to the wok, and everything is mixed thoroughly. Soy sauce, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper are the typical seasonings that impart a rich umami flavor to the dish. The rice is stir-fried until it is heated through and slightly crispy. Finally, the scrambled eggs are folded into the mixture, and the dish is garnished with chopped green onions or cilantro for a fresh touch.
