CCIK Slams Blinkit for Selling Pork in Kashmir, Demands Immediate Removal.

Srinagar, August 6 : The Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Thursday strongly condemned the listing and sale of pork products on the quick-commerce platform Blinkit, terming it a "deeply insensitive" act that has hurt the religious sentiments of the people in the Muslim-majority region.

In a statement, CCIK President Tariq Ghani expressed grave concern over the availability of such products through the online delivery service, stating that it reflects a complete disregard for the religious, cultural, and social values of Kashmir. "Pork is strictly prohibited in Islam, and companies operating in the region must respect the sensitivities of the local population. This negligence is unacceptable," Ghani said.

The Chamber urged Blinkit to immediately remove all pork products from its platform in the Kashmir Valley and ensure that such items are neither stocked nor advertised in the future. The CCIK also called upon the concerned authorities to examine the matter and take appropriate steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents .

"The business community stands firmly with the sentiments of the people. Commercial activities should never come at the cost of hurting public sentiments or disturbing communal harmony," Ghani added . The CCIK reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests and values of the people and urged all business establishments to exercise greater sensitivity while operating in the region..

CCIK Delegation Meets J&K Bank MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee; Discusses Key Issues of Trade & Industry

Srinagar, July 28: A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK), led by its President Mr. Tariq Ghani, called on Mr. Amitava Chatterjee, Managing Director & CEO of J&K Bank, at the Bank’s Corporate Headquarter to discuss a range of issues concerning the business community and to strengthen coordination between the banking sector and trade bodies.

The CCIK delegation comprised President Mr. Tariq Ghani, Vice President Mr. M.M. Hussain, Secretary General Mr. Shah Adnan, Joint Secretary Mr. Atif Khan, and Convener Mr. Umar Jan Wani.

The delegation held a detailed interaction with the senior management of J&K Bank, including:

During the meeting, the CCIK delegation highlighted several issues affecting the trade and industrial sectors. These included improved access to credit for MSMEs, faster processing of loan proposals, enhancement of customer service, promotion of ease of doing business, strengthening of digital banking services, and the introduction of more business-friendly banking solutions to support economic growth in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Chamber also urged J&K Bank to introduce a One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for Non-Performing Asset (NPA) accounts with a validity period of one year, enabling stressed business units to regularize their accounts and revive their operations.

The delegation emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between J&K Bank and the business fraternity to promote entrepreneurship, industrial development, employment generation, and sustainable economic progress across the Union Territory.

The J&K Bank management gave a patient hearing to the issues and suggestions put forth by the CCIK delegation and assured them that all genuine concerns would be examined sympathetically. Managing Director & CEO Mr. Amitava Chatterjee reaffirmed that J&K Bank remains committed to working closely with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir and extending all possible support to the business community. He stated that the Bank values its longstanding relationship with the trade and industry fraternity and looks forward to continued collaboration for the economic growth and development of Jammu & Kashmir.

Speaking after the meeting, CCIK President Mr. Tariq Ghani appreciated the positive response and constructive approach of the Managing Director & CEO and the senior management of J&K Bank. He expressed confidence that such regular interactions would help address the genuine concerns of traders and industrialists while further strengthening the partnership between J&K Bank and the business community for the overall economic development of Jammu & Kashmir.

CCIK Demands Immediate Action to Resolve Srinagar’s Drainage Crisis

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has strongly urged the Government to take immediate and decisive action to resolve the recurring drainage and dewatering crisis affecting Srinagar city.

CCIK expressed serious concern over the complete failure of the city’s drainage and suction systems during every spell of rainfall, particularly in the Shehr-e-Khaas area. As a result, rainwater enters shops and residential houses, causing substantial financial losses to traders and immense hardship to local residents.

The Chamber stated that this issue has been repeatedly brought to the attention of the concerned authorities over the years. However, despite numerous representations and complaints, no effective or permanent solution has been implemented. The continued neglect of this long-pending issue has left the people of Srinagar vulnerable whenever it rains.

CCIK questioned why the public should be compelled to repeatedly remind the concerned departments of their responsibilities. It emphasized that it is the duty of the authorities to conduct regular inspections, monitor the condition of the drainage infrastructure, maintain dewatering stations, and take timely preventive measures. These responsibilities are entrusted to the departments to safeguard public welfare.

The Chamber appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and the Government to treat the matter as a top priority. It stressed that the recurring problem of waterlogging in Srinagar must be resolved once and for all through a comprehensive and permanent solution so that traders, residents, and the general public are not forced to suffer every time it rains.

CCIK further urged the Hon’ble Minister concerned, the Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, the Commissioner/Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department, and the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), to personally visit the affected areas, assess the ground situation, and ensure that immediate as well as long-term corrective measures are taken without any further delay.

CCIK reiterated that Srinagar, being the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir and the commercial hub of the Valley, deserves a modern and efficient drainage system capable of handling heavy rainfall. The Chamber expressed hope that the Government will act promptly to provide lasting relief to the people and prevent the recurring losses caused by urban flooding.

CCIK delegates Led by President Tariq Ghani meet LG Sinha to discuss key issues

Highlight concerns regarding business settlement cases, infrastructure dev, tourism, ease of doing business

JK Revolution, 16 May:- The Chamber Commerce & Industries Kashmir (CCIK) office bearers team led by the President Tariq Ghani Vice President MM Husain and Junior Vice President Dr Imran Nazir called on the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan.

The meeting was held as a review of the status of the issues discussed in previous meetings, the CCIK said in a statement, adding that the following issues were discussed:

CCIK suggested that a representative from it be included as a member of the Committee to present the viewpoint of the business community.

SRINAGAR SMART CITY PROJECT
The CCIK while welcoming the development and beautification projects undertaken by Srinagar Smart City Projects Limited expressed concern over delay in completing these projects The LG’s attention was Invited to the pitiable condition of City areas causing huge has inconvenience to traders and general public. The commuting time in these areas had increased manifold. The CCIK requested him to order early completion of the projects.

TOURISM
The CCIK sought Lt. Governor’s intervention in addressing tourism stakeholders problems in :
a) Renewal of tourism registration licenses of hotels /restaurants be brough under Single Window System in the spirit of “EASE OF DOING BUSINESS”. Presently the renewals take months and years due to cumbersome process of obtaining NOC’S from multiple departments.
b) The hotels and other associated services related to tourism be granted provisional renewal of registration certificates till the time others departments issue NOC’s to them.
c) permission for repairs, renovation & reconstruction of hotels in Pahalgham/ Gulmarg/ Sonamarg/LCMA and other areas.
D) Kashmir Tourism should be Promoted at International Level to attract International Tourism.

E) CCIK Delegation requested Lt Governor J&K Tourism should Promote New Destination in Kashmir for Tourism and Business Growth.

F) CCIK Delegation requested Lt Governor to Provide Some Places for Exhibition for Young Entrepreneurs for their encouragement and Business Growth.

G) As Government has already issued an industrial policy, The CCIK welcomes Industrial Policy but requested to be implemented in letter and spirit, So that People will get benefits and People will investment more in business.(JK Revolution)
