Makar Sankranti also known as Uttarayan is celebrated in many parts of India especially in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The sky is filled with colorful kites and the terrace will be laid out with lip smacking sweets made of sesame seeds and jaggery.
It is also considered a very important day to conduct religious practises . People take dip in the holy water to wash away their sins.
