Snow-bounded for much of the year and confined to the house during bleak wintry days, the Kashmiris developed an almost obsessive interest in food – it could bring enjoyment and sparkle to life, even on the dreariest of days. Celebrating the union of Shiva and Parvati some homes offer delicious Kaliya (Mutton) whereas the others feast on some Dum Aloo and Paneer.
