Many years ago, a gentleman loved the philosophy, that “route to a man’s (and woman’s ) heart is through the stomach". One thing led to another and one fine morning, a small restaurant emerged as the culinary adda spot of South Kolkata- behind the Bijoli cinema Hall. The place was special, because the patron, Mr. Debu Barik (Pasupati Barik) was inclined to listen to the dreams of the youngsters, o

ver numerous cups of tea and nibbles. And in a few years, his passion gifted the city of Calcutta with one of the best catering houses the city has ever seen- BijoliGrill. The Gandhi family, Aparna Sen, and Sourav Ganguly were among the long list of celebrities BijoliGrill has been catering to over the years, including large entities like CAB. Today, BijolGrill is a name to remember in the Kolkata culinary scene. But then came Saswati Barik, a dreamy-eyed young lady, who dreamt of reinventing the legacy. She re-engineered the four pillars of Kolkata cuisine (Classics, Nizami, Tangra Chinese, and Bonedi Bangali) and tried to embed the same Inspired by the recipes of legendary BijoliGrill. Her dream opened its doors- 'Roots Of Calcutta'- the Neo-Bengali culinary dream.
