Forum for Food Recovery is hosting a awareness and networking session on FOOD RECOVERY MANAGEMENT on 23rd Nov 2019 at Chennai.

The problem of food waste and its recovery has now been drawing attention worldwide .It is well known that about one-third of total food produced is wasted and about one-ninth of the world suffers from malnutrition and hunger. Even if one -fourth of the food wasted is saved it is sufficient to avert the problem of hunger. Apart from this, it is a business opportunity as it will help save costs ,resources and energy thereby improving the bottom-line of organizations .Therefore, there is a strong business case for saving and recovering food waste.

This two hour session will have talks on the Food Recovery Management , current global standards and ways to save and recover food waste .It will also have service providers sharing their experiences in this area . It is great opportunity for attendees to learn share and network .

Charges : Rs 250/- per participant to cover incidental costs. (Payable at venue by cash or google pay ).

About Food Waste Challenge 2019 .

Forum for Food Recovery ( FFR ) has started this initiative to spread awareness about food loss and waste reduction in organizations. The challenge will run from 1 Aug to 15 Oct 2019 and will culminate in a seminar where the best entries will be felicitated.

What is a Food Waste Challenge ?

It involves identifying areas of food loss and waste in organizations and finding ways to reduce /reuse/re-purpose or recycle it . A person or group within the organization has to plan and implement a scheme or project and report their findings.It can be related to documenting savings in food due to waste reduction ,improvement in processes or a technology enabling it . It can be related to food saving ,energy reduction or improving the environment .The person or group has to present a report and a presentation of their results and findings.

Who can participate ?

Any person or group of persons can register for this initiative. The should started the initiative in the year 2019 and time duration for the project should be at least one month. They should be able to indicate the changes that occurred in terms of savings in food , energy or benefits to the environment.

How can FFR support you ?

While a person or group within an organization can work on their own FFR can provide mentoring support by delivering a talk at he organization . You have to make a request either by phone or e mail and an expert will be assigned by FFR to attend to your needs.They can also help in providing templates and guide them on how to go about addressing the challenge . There are no charges or fees for this from FFR except to and fro conveyance if the location of the organization is outside Chennai city limits .

Is there a fee for registering ?

No ! There is no fee for registering and a person or group can register and send in their entries within the time period .However there will be a nominal fee for those selected to make a presentation at the seminar .This will be informed at a later date.

What should be the content of your report and presentation ?

The report ( not more than 1500 words ) and a presentation (about 5 slides ) should describe the savings and changes in food quantity ,energy or the environment as a result of the initiative. Instructions on where to send , details of report and presentation etc will be sent once a person or group registers.
