The warm , quiet ambience of Amba Bhavan and its distinct and simple menu has charmed generations. The owners remain dedicated in their simplicity and truness to the quality of the food that is served on the table.
Every Amba loyalist has their own favourite. Among my favourites are their divine out of this world soft melting Upma and tastes better when it is hot. The Upma Sheera combo, trust me and have that with their Malagapudi, is a a gourmets delight. The chutney is always fresh, never refrigerated and the unique tastes of Karnataka's Udupi region can be savoured in their Sambar.

Buns Puri ( the one in the front) , is a Mangalorean speciality, available at very few places in Bombay. It's puri made with the humble banana and a hint of sugar. Try it the next time you are at Amba Bhawan.

Behind the Buns Puri is the Dal Vada - crisped to perfection on the outside and soft and wholesome in side. It's super along with some coconut chutney and washed down with filter coffee.

Probably the best Ulundu Dosa you can get in Bombay...... Had best with malaga pudi and a dollop of white butter.
