"The" most favourite bengali snack to be ordered and devoured is, Bhetki Fish Fry! A musr have, whenever we find ourselves in the vicinity of it being offered, on any menu, anywhere.

I remember one time, when one of my very dear school friend had dropped by Bagchiis one slow moving afternoon, surprising me and that too with her father! It was like 'no pressure." 🙃

Uncle had ordered Bhetki Fish Fry from the menu. After taking a couple of bites, he had looked at me and said "happy to see that you are using original bhetki for the fish fry and not bhola bhetki or basa!"

Till date it remains one of my most favourite compliment, review and memory ❤️

Also, no messing with the Fish Fry!

What is your Bhetki Fish Fry story?

P. S. This is me about to gorge, at the Kolkata Book Fair, 2026. Also, the fish fry was basa and not that great in taste too.
