BAROT VALLEY : NATURE'S HIDDEN HIMALYAN PARADISE
Barot Valley Also known as, “a trekker's paradise”,beautiful green place for tourism is situated in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh India at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level most of the village is settled along the banks of Uhl river surrounded on both sides by parts of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas.
Barot is World famous for trout fish.
There are two beautiful rivers and that makes this place extreme beautiful. Rivers are full of trout fish The town has a diversion dam that was commissioned in 1932.
Two reservoirs dated 1924
There are two reservoirs at Barot under Shanan power project.This project is dated back to 1924 constructed by a British engineer Col. Betty. You can see old machinery used in project.
Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary
Barot also forms the gateway to the lies across the Uhl. The sanctuary is home to the monal, black bear and ghoral.
Haulage trolley of the British times
Haulage trolley connects Barot valley to Jogindernagar. This trolley link was set up to facilitate transport of construction material to Barot for a reservoir on Uhl river for Shanan Power House. The trolley was also sparingly used as a means of transport since Barot was not linked to a road till 1975. However, once the road connection was established, the trolley fell into a state of disrepair.

Channelizing the waters of Uhl erupting at regular intervals is another source of attraction.
