The Nalli legacy began with Sri Nalli Chinnasamy Chetti, a master weaver from Kanchipuram who founded Nalli Silks in 1928. What began as a humble effort rooted in craftsmanship has today grown into one of India’s most respected and iconic silk saree institutions.
Under the stewardship of Sri Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti avl, the organisation expanded nationally while continuing its deep commitment to supporting weavers, preserving heritage and nurturing arts and culture. His contributions have been recognised with prestigious honours including the Padma Bhushan in 2025 and the Padma Shri in 2003 from the Government of India.
