Add This Green Super Powder to Your Meals for a Super Healthy Boost
When green tea leaves are dried and ground into a very fine powder, you end up with matcha. That means matcha offers a pure and super-concentrated dose of green tea's phytochemicals.

Why it's awesome: Matcha is great for the same reasons that green tea is—it can lower cholesterol, blood glucose, and triglyceride levels, according to a study published in Food & Function. "Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol known for its potential anti-cancer and antiviral properties, is at least three times higher in matcha than other green teas," says Miller. A new study published in the journal Current Pharmaceutical Design dug into matcha's reputation for boosting your mood and brain power. After reviewing 49 studies, the researchers cited the combination of caffeine, which delivers a kick in alertness, and L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and calmness, was particularly useful in helping people switch from task to task without distraction.

How to use it: Drink it up as a matcha latte at your trendy neighborhood coffee shop or add it to smoothies, pasta sauces, or a spice rub. You can also sprinkle it right on top of yogurt, granola, or even popcorn. Yes, it's that versatile.

On we'd like to acknowledge some of the bright souls in the estates who ensure the teas in our cups are always the best.

Meet Simi, who is all of 5 ft. tall, 24 years old and the manager of the new green tea factory at Chota Tingrai, Assam. Simi started as a management trainee but was quickly given the entire responsibility of the green tea factory when both the owners, Mrityunjay and Avantika, saw how focused and hardworking she was. And she’s not the only one. All the field assistants are young, driven and enthusiastic. Kudos to them and the hard work they're putting into an industry where hierarchy, experience, and age have always been given so much more importance! Times are changing and we are glad to be able to witness it!
