Ohana Film Club's Short film screening segment returns this Saturday at Café Ohana . The screening will begin at 5:00pm followed by an interactive session between the audience and the respective filmmakers. The event is open to public. Entry free. Come one. Come all.

পঞ্জিকা, বাংলার বহমান সমাজের প্রতিচ্ছবি। প্রায় দেড়শো বছর ধরে বাঙালির অন্তরমহলে তাঁর নিজস্ব গরিমা নিয়ে অবস্থান করছে। এই ইতিহাসকে আর একবার ফিরে দেখার প্রয়াস। ‘পঞ্জিকা, ইতিহাস কথা কয়’, বাংলা পঞ্জিকাকে নিয়ে প্রথম তথ্যচিত্র।
The Bengali Almanac, more commonly known as the Panjika is a reflection over time, of the social customs, traditions and life of Bengal as a whole. For almost 150 years now, the Panjika has continued to hold a place of pride in Bengali households. For the first time, this documentary revisits the history of the Bangla Panjika, traces its journey over time and tries to rekindle interest in the publication.

বাংলা ছবি দেখানোর একটি alternative platform হিসেবে আমাদের ওহানা ফিল্ম ক্লাব ইতিমধ্যেই একটা জায়গা করে নিয়েছে কলকাতার স্বাধীন চলচ্চিত্র প্রেমী দের মনে। আগামী শনিবার ৮ই এপ্রিল, সেই ক্লাবে প্রদর্শিত হবে সত্ৰাবিত পাল পরিচালিত ছবি "নিতান্তই সহজ সরল"। অমিত সাহার মত গুণী শিল্পী অভিনয় করেছেন এই ছবিতে। দেখতে হলে চলে আসুন। মাত্র ৫০ টাকার কুপন নিয়ে দেখে ফেলুন ছবিটা।

Merely watching cinema in our comfortable isolated corners might not be good enough in bringing up a collective consciousness about the cinema trends worldwide among the film lovers' fraternity we belong to. Hence we at Ohana Film Club are initiating our new segment "Talk A Cinema", where we can bring forward our views on, dissect or critique on some interesting movies from around the world. The first film which is being screened under this section is Michael Haneke's "Cache" on 25.03.2023 from 5.30 PM. Hope to see you there.

To support independent voices, independent artists and independent cinema, just a word of mouth is not enough. We need to create platforms which can celebrate such works of art. We, at Cafe Ohana Film club are trying to build that platform, where filmmakers can showcase their work, directly to the audience, without any middleman involved. As a part of that initiative, we are screening Sujit Dutta's film "City of Jackals" on 18th and 19th of March, 2023 from 5.30 PM. If you want to contribute to the change, do drop by.

Our mission and vision in Cafe Ohana Film Club is to not only bring together filmmakers working in Bengal, but also creating a discourse through which filmmakers can discuss, debate and discover ideas, perspectives and methods that can shape the cinematic language of Bengali films in days to come.
Our special segment "JUKTI NO TORKO Aar GOPPO" focuses on this very agenda and we are starting the first edition of this segment with Pradipta Bhattacharya, the director of "Bakita Byaktigoto", "Rajlokkhi o Srikanto" and "Birohi" among others. The session will start with his new film "ROOTS" and will be followed by an interactive session with him.
