Kolkata-based photographer and visual storyteller, Upahar Biswas, takes us through a journey shaped by curiosity, trust and presence.

I started with a need—to observe, feel, and document. What began as curiosity became consistency, then trust, and eventually a brand.
From fashion to editorials, I’ve documented many worlds. Today, I’m drawn to moving images, which led to Flash Forward Productions with my husband, Sayan Chakraborty. Our work feels lived-in, never manufactured. I’ve always believed in not rushing the process—just letting stories unfold.

Honesty, in a space that often feels performative.
In a fast-moving world, I’ve always been drawn to slowness—to process and to really feeling what I create. There’s a quiet community that values this pace, and I think we find each other through our work.

It’s the trust. A brand choosing me never feels ordinary—it extends to every collaborator, becoming something shared.
On a personal note, I come from a family where pride is often quiet. That sense of grounding and belief has stayed with me and continues to shape how I approach my work.
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪?
For me, it’s about being present.
Not rushing, letting moments unfold, and giving ideas space. “Vivi il momento” feels natural to how I create—some of the most honest frames come from simply being there.
And “il dolce far niente”—in a world that constantly asks for more, choosing to pause brings clarity. That’s where everything settles.
