Appatharam

Appatharam Though it is a NADAN restaurant, Four Food specializes in the cuisines of Kerala which are hard to get elsewhere in the standalone restaurants of KANNUR

The restaurant's specialties are the Syrian Christian signature dishes like the Meen Moilee (fish cooked in coconut milk and curry masala), which pairs up well with Appams (lacy rice pancakes with contrasting crispy and soft fluffy textures. Their home-style Vegetable/ Mutton/ Chicken/ Fish Stew is a mild dish of coconut milk, and also best had with Appam. For vegetarians, their signature dish is

Veg Korma which teams up well with their layered Parottas (Kerala Paratha). Puttu is another good accompaniment for their egg, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes made from broken rice and coconut layered into cylindrical shapes. While most of the traditional dishes of the Syrian Christians and other Malayalis on offer here are mildly spiced, those who like spicy food can opt for the Mutton/Chicken Fried which is full of pepper and packed with the flavour of Kerala spice mixes, or the Chicken/Mutton/Prawn Masala which goes well with the Parottas. The Pomfret Masala and Surmai Fried (a good starter) are recommended for those who like fish. They also have an acceptable standard of Malabari Mutton/Chicken Biryani and a good Prawn Biryani.Lemon Rice and Curd Rice are also usually available on Sunday.
