A little glimpse of how Kalimpong waits for Independence Day every year. Before the celebrations begin, here's the spirit behind them.
In Kalimpong, Independence Day has always been more than just a national holiday. It is a festival!
For three days, the entire town comes alive. Schools prepare for march-pasts and competitions, football takes centre stage, businesses get busy, and families step out in their new clothes to celebrate.
What makes it special is that the celebration extends beyond Kalimpong. People from neighbouring towns and communities come to witness and be part of this unique carnival.
The streets become colourful, shops come alive, friends and families meet, and everyone has a reason to celebrate. For generations, this has been one of the biggest moments on Kalimpong's calendar.
