People nowadays are very selective about the food they eat. “Taste and nutrition is what we want” is a general statement people make these days.
A variety of junk food is attracting their taste buds. Buying pre-cooked items is a trend that is slowly on the increase.
With busy schedules, meal times too have become very irregular. It is easier for people to pick up ready-to-eat snacks like puffs, wafers, chips etc rather than prepare or have a hot meal. The market is constantly flooded with new food products, which are promoted attractively and endorsed by popular sports and movie icons and this has greatly influenced the food habits of people of all the age groups.
Nutritious food????
Where is the nutrition in these?
Tasty and nutritious…..is it just a statement??????
It reflects the fact that nutritious and well-balanced food is increasingly becoming a rarity and eating a proper meal is not a priority any more for many, who are often hard-pressed for time.
On the other hand recent Google and other search engine reports show nutrition searches heavily rising. This shows people are also becoming health conscious.
Confused???? Sounds contradicting???? Let us clarify
People are aware what junk food, ready to eat and so called tasty snacks do to them. Despite the awareness of the side effects of these foodstuff, the food outlets selling them are crowded these days in any place that you visit. Day by day food joints catering the famous brands of foodies are mushrooming throughout the country.
This can be attributed to two factors
1. Time: People don’t have an option. No time!!!!
Due to lack of time, despite increasing awareness on nutrition, people are compromising on the nutrition part.
2. Taste: Obvious and most common misconception that people now a days have is healthy food in not tasty. Unhealthy food is tasty.
People are compromising on their health knowingly due to these minute things. Are these so big problems that can’t be dealt with?
Certainly NO
Good nourishment is the secret of a healthy and happy life. It is the basic investment a person can make for his/her own life and their children’s future.
“I have lemon in hot water every day, first thing in the morning”, “I drink a glass of milk every day”, “I make sure to have an apple every day”, “I have a glass of green tea every day without fail”……………etc etc are very common statements we hear these days from people.
But is this sufficient for a happy and healthy living??????
This is a question everyone should ask of themselves.
To be frank, No it ain’t sufficient.
Every food in this world has it’s own set of nutritional values. There are hardly any food items that are unhealthy and non-nutritious.
Every food has a particular set of nutritional values which work in the right & intended way to nourish our body when cooked the right way and consumed with the right set of items in the right quantities.
Confused again…….let us explain with the help of an example.
Why not take the most misunderstood item, cheese.
Cheese when consumed with Maida and other high carbohydrate items is a lot fattening. But Cheese is among the richest dietary sources of calcium, which plays an essential role in bone health, Vitamin B12: Also called cobalamin, vitamin B12 is important for the function of the nervous system. Not just these, cheese is a very good source of protein and good fat.
When consumed as a part of low carbohydrate diet helps in fat loss and maintaining lean muscle.
Solution: Why not have nutritious food which is tasty too.
Get all the nutrition your body needs in a lip-smacking and delicious way.
